Traveling to Heriot-Watt University by Railway:

Heriot-Watt University’s Edinburgh campus isn’t directly served by a railway station. If you are travelling to IPCITI by train from another city you will likely arrive at Waverley Railway Station. Here’s how to get to the university from there:

  1. By Bus:
    • Board Bus No. 25 directly from the city center, which will take you to Heriot-Watt University.
    • Duration: Approximately 40 minutes.
  2. By Taxi:
    • Taxis are often available outside the Station.
    • Duration: Approximately 25 minutes.
  3. By Train and Bus:
    • From Waverley Railway Station, catch a train heading towards Glasgow, Stirling, or Dunblane that stops at Edinburgh Park. Upon arriving at Edinburgh Park Station, you can take Bus No. 25 or No. 34 which run from the station to Heriot-Watt University.

Transport Tips:

  • Always check bus and train schedules ahead of time, as they can change. For live bus times and routes, you can use the Transport for Edinburgh app or visit the official website.
  • If you are staying in Edinburgh for a few extra days and plan to use public transport frequently during your stay, you might want to purchase a 1-week Ridacard for unlimited travel on Edinburgh buses and trams. A student Ridacard costs £19.
  • If traveling by bus around Edinburgh, make sure you use the same bank card to pay for your tickets, and your ticket fare will be automatically capped at £4.80 per day. This does not apply to the trams though, so if you’ll be using the trams, buy a day ticket or weekly Ridacard.
